Make Peace not War

Maybe it's time to rethink the war in Afghanistan..Join the movement to stop the war

Follow the link and become a Peacemaker.

"Rethink Afghanistan War" is still a U.S. organization only, but Denmark as an active ally in Afghanistan, would be an ideal place to bring the movement across the ocean.

The tale that our soldiers are fighting, dying, loosing limbs and livelihoods in order for America/Europe/world to be "Safe" is wearing a bit thin....

It's now painfully obvious that at no point, before or during this war, has the Al Qaeda been severely hit nor impaired. The elusive Al Qaeda is not one group, orderly organized in a hierarchy with Osama Bin laden as the all mighty "Capo di tutti capi"- This is not the Cosa nostra, where the promise of Witness Protection will make some high ranked Captain wanna sing his heart out, later to be viewed as dramatised documentary on National Geography; This is not about money, the good life nor macho pride nor glamour- This is a deep, deep felt conviction of "Us Vs Them", Right Vs wrong, Divine Simplicity Vs Mundane Pleasures - This is a myriad of cells spread all over world - Bombing/shooting an already extremely poor and "underdeveloped" country into Smithereens or somewhere way beyond the Stone age, will not stop a group of fanatics in Bali/Paris/Helsinki/Moscow/Copenhagen nor Kansas from doing whatever they intend to do....

Europe is playing along on the "Us Vs Them song" - In Denmark we even help the extremists by condoning the ever growing hatred, isolation and division, by voting a xenophobic party into government....

So instead of war faring and a lengthy siege of a sovereign state, we should start to unify and integrate in our home countries; In Denmark i.e. Build Mosques worthy of worship of God, Cleanse the Media of apparent and subliminal discrimination and/or full blown racism, stop in the name of all our "freedoms"; Forcing all foreigners to be Danish with a big, bombastic, capital D.... instead of embracing and welcoming diversity....

Maybe if we started to do these few things; the recruitment of young men, willing to die for the cause, would dwindle in numbers..... Maybe not... But I can't say what it does to people to be left outside of the community all their life. All I know, is that I would huddle up with my own kind as well and build a wall in order to defend my "Homies" - instead of venturing out into a world, where I'm not in the very least welcome and when a trip "behind enemy lines" is inevitable, I would never go "unarmed"one way or the other..... Oh, but ain't that exactly what our troops are doing in Afghanistan.... !!?!

The Bitter Swat Valley soup ........

All this gettin' up and leaving "the Conference against Racism" looks a bit adolescent and Drama queenish to me. Let it be said, I'm no fan of Pres. Ahmadinejad and his regime!!! But saying that "Zionism is racist" is not that far off, from the truth. Yes, wherever we like or not; Living in Israel is living with Apartheid.... I don't understand all the fuss and I start to suspect that Ahmadinejads speech is not the reason, there must be something else - we don't hear about - What do Europe benefit from boycotting this conference? Wouldn't it have been more constructive to stay and make a well augmented defence instead? Doesn't it just show, that we're acting up like spoiled brats, spreading "Our" Democracy and Freedom of Speech by the way of the gun, but when it comes down to actually having to imply it in our own actions, we stomp off and slam the door, when people say things we don't like to hear? That's not the way, I'd  democratise the unruly nations of the world who, let's face it, does need a lesson or two, on how to implement basic human-rights to their peoples.

What I find much more, but much more scary is the Taleban powers slowly rising in Pakistan! Cause this mean more power to the Dark Side, it means a return to most primitive level of human existence, and it probably means yet another war and Pakistan is not some picturesque & backwards country, still living in the middle-ages, yet! They have a fully grown military force and when/if ? the US and her allies invades , it will not be just a picnic in the hills!

 Introducing Sharia as a way of life will be crippling to the Pakistani society. This harsh degrading view on humans and the treatment of women is beyond belief, recently a 17 year old girl was publicly flogged for going outside her house, without (family-)male companion. If this spreads through out the rest of the country, and what's there to stop it, then the region will have a whole new perspective of an explosive neighbourhood to display - with our troops sandwiched in between...

I find it worrisome, that we don't hear more of these troubling news - because this is something to fear, ladies and gentlemen.  And they'll not contain themselves to stay put, at their own neck of the woods - and yes, they'll have the means and know-how to make international terror raids much more often and much closer to "home" than Al Qaeda has now ...  The arrogance/ignorance of the Western world will quickly come to a screeching halt, when  operations like 9/11 in NYC, Madrid and London will become everyday horrors... I'm not trying to instill fear and make a panic run for the exit, but this is serious - I think.
      In Afghanistan, Pres. Karzaii is inching closer to the same destructive forces, by presenting partial Sharia laws - again sacrificing women and children; sending the Afghan society back into the shadows. And in Iran we have Ahmadinejad and his priests shouting out the glory of Sharia laws, while they hang their children.... (Before we get too smug, a Rabbi says; Israel should do the same with the Arab kids)
        I still have the images of the great Buddhas in Bamian, being blown up as the image of how primitive Mankind can be, when they succumb to fanaticism and the primal fear of not being able to control the tomorrow nor the free thinking mind of their fellow Man -
                      Is this what, we want
 American, British, Danish boys and girls to fight and die for?

No blowing up mountains nor slamming of doors will ever solve a damn thing - Thought we'd know that by now. And if we don't learn how to do it differently sometime soonish, we're going to perish as the people, who didn't know how to go forward only crawl backwards,
back into that primordial soup we came from....

Black winds blowing...

Okay, Rumsfeld isn't known as the most cultivated guy, but his flippant remark to the looting and destruction of The Iraq National Museum; "stuff happens" seemed cynical to all of us, who'd already shed tears when the bombing of The National Library in Sarajevo burned down thousands of irreplaceable old manuscripts.
But being a long distance witness to the greedy looting of the National Museum in Baghdad in 2003, while US troops and their allies stood idle by, was more than some us could bear. As in Sarajevo it's our history, that's forever lost - And for the peoples of the nations involved, it's a catastrophe beyond words - when you lose your past.

Thousands of works, some over 3.000 years old are lost! Artifacts, Jewelry and object's d'art, some of our civilizations earliest, are gone forever. They are now sitting in secret vaults all over the world, now only for the pleasure of the very few.
The Museum is now (partly) opened, but only half of the sad remains of this invaluable collection will be at display and only for VIPs ?!?

A lot of Iraqis showed up for the big opening, clinging to the iron gates surrounding the Museum. These people were not hoping to see the small exhibition, but rather to get a glimpse of the Prime Minister, while shouting out their needs and their despair. Most of the women there, being some of Iraq's 740.000 widows, most who do not have roof over their heads, neither them nor their fatherless children. These are the true victims of the Iraqi violence. remember the celebrated "shoe thrower"? He did this stunt for the Iraqi war widows and the orphans.
These women was before protected by the extended support system of family, neighbours and mosques. But as the war drag on and on the needs far exceed available help. Iraqi charities are closing down one by one as no help comes from the government or anywhere else.
Some of these widows becomes homeless beggars sifting through garbage, standing outside the mosques asking for handouts or they become prostitutes and some joins the insurgents, becoming suicide bombers for money.
The vast majority are forced into "temporary marriages" - ( Shi'ite trad.) often based on sex, some for hours, some for years, and in this way gets help from government, religious or tribal leaders. A war widow neither has the money nor the clout to pay the bribes needed to oil the offices, where war widow benefits are distributed [50$ a month]
The latest plan from the director of "Baghdad Displacement Committee" is to pay men to marry widows. When asked , why not give the money directly to the women instead? He laughs this preposterous idea off with a; " They'll only spend the money unwisely because they are uneducated and don't know about budgets!" ?!?!

It's the women and the children who pays the full burden of war, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Gaza or anywhere else in world where violence is the order of the day...

Wheeling and dealing;

This is the deal; When I encounter injustice, I have a real hard time, not welling up.. It's about the only thing, that has that effect on me! Doesn't matter if it's in public places or not, I can feel the tears bursting through like springtime, when the levee brakes.

Naught matter if it's injustice done to me directly or to the children denied of a future in a war torn country like Gaza/West bank. When I hear the wails of fear, of a boy, being seized by the DR Congo army, looking for new recruits for their army of boy-soldiers. Or when I talk to a Burkha clad woman, born in a country, where women are sick from lack of sunshine on their skin. I cry, when men of faith, dynamites ancient Buddhas or rob the national library.The tears will come, when my grandmother tells me, how life is lived, when you have to ask for your husbands permission for a passport. Listening to women with death in their eyes, while recounting their nightmares of Darfurs Janjaweed raping and killing their daughters and then raping great-grandmother too.

This great lotto ticket; The wheel of fortune in life, which decides where you're born and under which circumstances.... It's got nothing to do with justice or what you're "entitled" to!

By the way;
 People in this country, Denmark, are really good at being "entitled" to just about everything; From welfare to 42" HD ready TV flat screens....
 The two sentences you hear the most is; "It's just not fair!/ I have the right!"

Well, It's just not fair, that Obama has given a fantasyllion to Wall Street, when I haven't got a dime, because I borrowed too much and are paying 500000000% in interests! - But then again it's not fair that millions of children are working their childhood away to keep hunger down!  - It's all about keeping your perspectives, me thinks.....?

 - Even if it does make me howl of the injustice of it all, when I see that a guy like MC Hammer gets his own reality show...???!!! Thus Paying off his mortgage and then some!

My problem these days are of being thoroughly misunderstood by some people & to top it off, having a very sporadic Internet-connection, which won't let me use my "right of free speech" exactly when I want to!
  And I will not stand for, having to wait for my
 instant gratification !!!
Is that all??  Shame on me - uaaaaargh!;
